Louis Vuitton Dentelle Fersen Bag

Ever seen the movie "Arsenic and Old Lace"? This dark comedy's best part deals with a pair of homicidal spinster aunts! The ladies off lonely old men with a concoction that features the aforementioned poison. What does this movie reference have to do with handbags you might ask? Plenty in my book. When faced with viewing the Dentelle line from Louis Vuitton's Spring '07 collection, I longed to be one of the aunt's hapless victims in the hopes a little arsenic might put me out of my ocular misery. The movie reference doesn't end there for it is the Dentelle line's lace pattern that truly offends.

Let's dispense with the necessary details. The Louis Vuitton Dentelle Fersen Bag (Pictured) is crafted from signature monogram canvas with an embroidered silver-tone lace pattern throughout. This hag bag boasts a myriad of design details aside from the outrageous exterior - "creased" golden brass chain-link shoulder strap with cowhide leather handle, large gathered front pocket with leather/embroidered gold lace-patterned inlay, magnetic top closure, and pastel microfiber-lined interior with leather-trimmed zip pocket and D-ring attachment. Now that we've covered what this shoulder bag has, let's point out the one obvious thing it lacks - taste. It's to be expected from a bag that derives its' name from Fersen, Marie-Antoinette's lover. How crass! Shame on you Marc (Jacobs). What were you thinking when you created this stomach-churning design?!?!

After examining the Dentelle Fersen at length, its' $2422USD price tag just adds insult to injury. Mercifully, this bag is currently out of stock on-line (are there seriously that many visually-impaired LV aficionados?). If you must join the "must-have Dentelle" list, visit your local LV boutique, preferably blindfolded! You can also shop other Dentelle styles as well as all things Louis Vuitton at eLUXURY

This bag is hard to match but
I think the Fersen is one of the prettiest bag LV ever made!!! Speedy looks better in silver but Fersen is def. better in Gold.
You probably have a worst taste in fashion and who are you?

I thank you for your comment. Actually, there are plenty of fellow fashion bloggers, particularly those that focus on handbags, which expressed their lack of enthusiasm with this LV line. You can do a search on the web and confirm this for yourself. I have nothing against the lace pattern. In fact, there are a few new bags this season (Valentino comes to mind) that fashioned this trend with better results. Of course, this is all my opinion. I'm glad you liked the bag. Your comment reflects your passion for handbags which is something we share in common.

As to who I am, you can read my profile on this blog as well as other sites which have featured my picks. As you choose to remain anonymous (which is certainly your right to do so), I have no idea who you are. It doesn't matter because all opinions and comments are most welcome here. You might find the opposite to be true on other fashion blogs that restrict and closely monitor comments, and will not post any that differ with the opinions stated on the blog.

Once again, thank you for your comment, but in the future it might be more courteous to give your take on a post without having to insult my taste.

    Come back soon :-)

You insulted LV's hard work and their 153 years of devotion for fashion.
    Why can't I criticize your taste? =)

Am I to assume from your last comment that a fashion label's tenure erases or excuses any design mistakes they may make along the way? LV is one of the most famous, well-established purveyors of handbags and accessories in the world. There is no denying that, nor do I think I've ever written anything to the contrary. I am, however, open enough to realize that even greatness is prone to having a few faults. I did not criticize the bag or the design, merely the treatment it received with added detailing and embellishments. My criticizm is in their choices. I'd be curious to find out if you've ever found a fault in any designer handbag as most collectors have at one point or another.

As for criticizing my personal taste, well you are certainly entitled to your opinion. What I asked is that it might be polite to make your comments in reference to a post as you can see other readers do without resorting to insults. I can disagree with a reader's opinion, but I would never publicly insult their taste or choice in handbag purchases.

That, my fellow handbag lover, is the difference between getting your feelings and opinions across in a courteous manner and insulting someone you don't know for the sake of it. I'm surprised to still seeing your comments (although they are most welcome despite their tone)since you feel I have such horrible taste. I would think you (or anyone that does not enjoy a particular blog, website, etc...)might find it pointless to read the opinion of someone you don't feel has anything meaningful to say. I will say I enjoy this banter very much.

Please let me know if there are any bags you personally dislike or, better yet, if there are any posts you agree with!
