Dautore Oversize Patent Shoulder Bag

You may never come across a more fashion forward handbag design duo than Gilda Sampalo and Aurea Urtiaga, the Brazilian creative team behind Dautore. Their skills are best exemplified when they experiment with conventional handbag forms to produce innovative designs.

One of Dautore's more fun designs is the Oversize Patent Shoulder Bag. Crafted from patent leather and sporting absolutely no hardware, this bag, measuring a whopping 19 x 18, relies on its shape to command attention. Additional features include dual cut-out top handles, top seam pleating detail, main compartment with magnetic snap closure, and print-lined interior with zip/patch pockets and convenient key hook. Admittedly, this bag is not for everyone as its' design is a departure from the tried and true, but it is fun enough to risk censure from fellow handbags lovers.

The Oversize Patent Shoulder Bag comes in black, grey, and white patent leather (shown) and is available for a reasonable $449 via Shopbop.

there is just something so insanely unattractive about this bag.. everytime i see it, it puts a frown on my face. maybe it's because i think the armhole is too big? might like this better as a hand-held clutch-type bag...

Agreed. A clutch style would fit the overall design concept best and probably meet less resistance in the mainstream handbag market. I'm glad there are designers that experimenting with shapes and materials. It keeps the handbag world from becoming stagnant.

That IS different. I was wondering if I was the only one that thought this handbag was unattractive. :)
