Marni Spring 2008 Collection: Ultra-Chic Simplicity

The search is over for the fashionista who craves simple, chic and wearable designer fashions. Marni, the odd and sometimes over-the-top label responsible for last season's "IT" balloon bags, displayed a colorful and modern take on retro silhouettes throughout its' Spring '08 collection.
The late 60s and early 70s received a sleek makeover with the use of trendy textiles and jeweled appliqués on classic shift dresses and pant suits. The retro feel was softened up with relaxed lines and a somewhat muted color palette. Color, however, was infused into a few pieces that showcased Marni's tradition of combining style with experimentation in fashion.

Accessories were the true standouts here. From bold necklaces to fierce-looking footwear, Marni demonstrated why it's still the edgiest label in fashion. The handbags were a fresh compliment to this sleek collection. Structured handbags done in a slightly MOD style were modernized in spring's hottest accent colors - teal and orange. Details such as vintage-inspired cut-out handles and "tinseled" exteriors added the finishing touches to a collection that was ultra-chic. It looks like Marni is all grown up.
