Prada Spring 2008 Collection: Color Our World

Any color, shape, print, and fabric you could conjure up as a designer to inject into your collection was front and center at the Prada Spring '08 collection. Miuccia Prada has recovered from her less than stellar fall showing by coloring the fashion world with a spectacle straight out of the psychedelic 60s and 70s.
Printed fabrics, clunky heels and colorful handbags made up the essence of Prada's latest collection. Knits, chiffons and silks in a true kaleidescope of colors numbed the senses. Most of the pieces are sensual and artistic in nature. Perhaps not the most wearable fashions ever produced by Prada, but certainly the most inspired in quite some time.
Mercifully, the muff clutches from the Fall '07 collection were left in the past. In their stead we were treated to patchwork handbags with long, slender shoulder straps - perfect for the spring and summer months. Clutches with thick top handles and detachable shoulder straps are a "hit" waiting to happen. Unlike the depressing color palette from the fall collection, this season's wide array of color choices make Prada's collection, especially its' handbags, fresh and chic.

Oh! I've been so busy I haven't even been able to look at the pictures from LFW much less Milan, but I love this. Bold colors make me so happy!

I think it's their best collection in quite some time. The color combinations are so fresh. Perfect for spring.

Oh, no, not the 70s boho chic "maternity" and ruffles again!

Their previous stuff wasn't *that* bad. Didn't you like their degrade bags?

Their degrade bags were not my favorite, especially the black to red to white ones. I was mostly referring to the "muff" clutches or the horrid clutches clad in mohair. The color palette for their fall collection was just awful.

I suppose my disappointment with the fall show made me appreciate the artistic creativity involved in producing this collection. A definite improvement in my book.
