Spotlight On.....LuxCouture

If I had a dollar for every request I've received from an on-line retailer to feature their store on Señora Cartera, I'd probably be able to buy myself any designer handbag my heart desires. Trust me when I say this is not an exaggeration. The requests come in every day, but, unfortunately, the VAST majority of these e-tailers are bogus. In other words, they claim to sell authentic designer bags, but one look at their advertised merchandise by the trained eye can tell immediately that it's all fake. So finding a reputable on-line business specializing in quality designer handbags is like finding a needle in a haystack. My ongoing search brings me to the subject of this edition of "Spotlight On". While researching a post a couple of months ago, I came across LuxCouture. As I browsed their inventory, I quickly realized they were the real deal. What's more, they were far better than the real deal. Why? Because LuxCouture does something no other e-tailer does - seek out emerging talent and make their fresh designs available to fashionistas everywhere.

Let me give a bit of background on this fabulous site. LuxCouture is the brain-child of Sari Brown. Sari, who began her career working for Oleg Cassini, developed a keen fashion sense with a particular passion for handbags (lucky us!). She branched out on her own and founded LuxCouture in 2006. With a mission on her mind and a love of handbags in her heart, Sari began her business by seeking out up-and-coming designers whose talent was about to make them a household name. It's Sari's ability to identify the next "it" designer as well as zeroing in on emerging trends that gives the LuxCouture customer an advantage over all her fashionista friends. Women who seek stylish designs which capture the sophisticated and timeless feel of the world's most iconic handbags will recognize the importance of a site like LuxCouture.

Sari makes certain LuxCouture is stocked with the most luxurious bags and styles. From totes to shoulder bags to clutches clad in exotic skins, including python, crocodile, water-snake and ostrich, any bag in LuxCouture's inventory is a sure-fire hit. Hot designers like Pauric Sweeney, Jane August and B. Romanek are all permanent fixtures on the site. Particularly in demand as of late are bags from Korean designer, Sang A.

This immensely talented designer is responsible for the stunning Jade Clutch (as seen on Jessica Simpson) as well as the retro-chic River Tote. This square tote (a major must-have this season) has a 60s look yet retains a timeless quality only a creative designer could instill. Large brass square tabs underneath the ends of both top handles as well as an over-size square pull tab dangling from the zippered top mimic the 'River Tote's' overall design. It's these small details that exemplify how essential a bag's design is to its' success.
The River Tote is available in both python and smooth leather. The platinum and black python versions are nothing short of spectacular. It's no wonder they're selling like hotcakes. For those of you not willing to jump on the "exotics" love train just yet, two leather renditions, one black and the other a gorgeous blue, are equally tempting options. The python River Tote is priced at $2300 while the leather styles are available for $1350. My particular favorite is the black python tote. Nothing says chic better than brushed brass hardware against lux black python.

So, ladies, we now have a new friend in the world of designer handbags. LuxCouture will treat you as the demanding consumer you are while helping you decide on which style in their handbag arsenal works best for you.

*A special thanks to Sari Brown for taking time out from her busy schedule to fill me in on everything from the latest designers to the impact of celebrities on the luxury retail market.
