Zac Posen Antonia Handbag

While the previously reviewed Elie Tahari Chiara Frame Bag bordered on "granny bag" status, the Zac Posen Antonia Handbag embraces the moniker hook, line and sinker. This vintage-inspired handbag, like the rest of Posen's 'Iconic' collection, embraces the best of the past while updating the classic frame top design in black patent leather. This large 15 x 12 x 4.5 bag features gold-tone hardware, grained leather trim, rolled leather handles, zipped top, front flap pocket with hexagonal ring pull, detachable link chain with logo-embossed name-plate which slides into a small front slip pocket, and suede-lined interior with zipped pocket. Its' ample shape will store all your essentials, including a few magazines or a book to take along your daily travels.

Along with her sisters 'Abbey', 'Alexia' and 'Gretta', the 'Antonia' is one of the best overall creations to come out of Zac Posen's handbag collection. I do have a bone to pick with the design, though. The detachable name-plate chain is rather silly for such a sophisticated, classic bag. I'd definitely lose the chain although the slip pocket would remain behind as a reminder of Posen's folly.

At $1200 via Shopbop's Designer Boutique, the Antonia Handbag is reasonably priced for a designer bag. However, other options offer stiff competition to this style, especially YSL's Uptown Bag. Mull your decision over and choose wisely.
