MARC by Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 Collection: Dowdy Disaster

Marc Jacobs is one designer than can really push my buttons. One minute I love him and marvel at his immeasurable talent and the next minute I can't stand him and wonder if his taste comes out of that place where the sun don't shine. His MARC by Marc Jacobs Spring '09 Collection is the perfect example of why I'm faced with this dilemma all the time. Past seasons gave us fresh, youthful fashions and practical handbags that were both stylish and affordable, and then there's this collection which is one hot mess. The looks range from dowdy to downright laughable. The rompers and jumpsuits look like my 3 yr old son designed them (no offense to my little boy intended). The dresses and separates resemble bad thrift store finds. Oh and the bags can be summed up with one word - cheap.

The bags, a hodge-podge of utilitarian designs in the form of backpacks, messenger bags and fanny packs (no, I'm not kidding) clad in canvas and cheap-looking leather, seem like an after thought. I know this is Jacobs' moderately-priced line, but, c'mon, couldn't he try just a bit harder to keep young woman looking, you know, pretty? Guess not.

the brand marc jacobs is widely known here in our country..including the fact that it is expensive..because of this, there are marc jacobs that are sold in much much cheaper prices but are imitation. i'd really like to knoe how could we be able to find out that a bag is imitation or original? what is the signature label of an original marc jacobs handbags? some people here tend to sell marc jacobs in lesser prices but they claim that it has already been used several times from other countries and is sent here. i saw these bags but i am still confused if its original or not because the bags have a label MARC JACOBS, MADE IN ITALY.. PLease help! i support marc jacobs;)
