Valentino Petale Dome Bag

I entertained the idea of writing up the Valentino Petale Dome Bag when it first hit the scene, but decided against it because I hadn't formulated an opinion about it one way or the other. I wasn't in love with it, but I didn't think it was the most awful thing I'd seen either. So I left it at that. Until I saw it in person, that is.

What a stunning bag this is. I can't believe I had written it off so easily. You really must see this bag in person to appreciate the artistic effort of the large rose petal adorning the bag's front facade. I know what you're thinking "It's such a big rose. Isn't it 'too much'?". Well, yes and no. Let's be honest, this bag is not for everyone. I think it's a tad gimmicky, but when you hold it and caress each leather petal one by one, you begin to acknowledge that it is, in fact, a gorgeous bag and it does have a place in the fashion world. The 'Petale' is not for the faint-of-heart fashionista. It belongs on the arm of a woman who knows who she is and isn't afraid to let everyone see it. The classic red version is available for $2495 via Neiman Marcus, but I prefer the clay or black renditions better.
