An eco-friendly designer handbag from Salvatore Ferragamo? Is such a thing even possible? You bet, ladies. I was as shocked as some of you probably are right now, and, yet, this Calfskin Hobo is just that. What better way to celebrate Earth Day (Wednesday, April 22nd) than by splurging on a designer bag that's friendly to the environment as well.So what makes this such an eco-friendly bag? Well, for starters the supple brown calfskin leather exterior was tanned with eco-safe vegetable dyes. Notice any hardware, ladies? Nope. The bag is metal-free. This stylish hobo measures a roomy 14 x 17.5 x 2 and is lined in hemp. The front braiding detail and toggle closure are visually appealing which just goes to show you can create something that's good for the environment without sacrificing style or function. Be honest, if I hadn't told you this was an eco-friendly bag there would be nothing aesthetically speaking that would have given it away. Kudos to the design team at Salvatore Ferragamo for designing such a thoughtful and stylish bag.
