Bottega Veneta Mini Crochet Ball Bag

This might very well be the most atrocious use of leather I've ever had the misfortune of laying eyes upon. Bottega Veneta is a legend in the fashion world. Their designs are sophisticated expressions of classic style and loved by women of all ages. So what woman possessing the aforementioned sense of style would ever, and I mean E-V-E-R, buy such an absurd handbag? Aside from making one expensive China plate storage case, the Bottega Veneta Mini Crochet Ball Bag is a nonsensical and worthless design. But wait, there's more. More as in more money. This pointless bag is priced at $5200. Yes, you read that correctly - $5200. If you ever happen to see someone carrying this bag, stop them immediately and ask to take their temperature because only suffering from an intense high fever could explain purchasing such a ridiculous bag.

It must look best when it's full and hangs like a ball, but if you needed to tak your own place setting everywhere you went, this would work!

If you get the leather, I will make something like this for just $2000.

Geez, I could make it for $12-$15, plus the leather...

Well....for one thing, this bag is not crocheted.

1-These bags are not crocheted, they're weaved. Anyone who crochets would know it right off the bat. 2-they're not worth 5,200.oo. Not even 52.00

if you look at the bottega veneta site you will see that this is a gorgeous bag, the craftmanship is outstanding, the bag should be presented in the right way so anyone could see that this is one of the best pieces of bottega

Knowing Bottega Veneta bags, I would never argue about the craftsmanship of any of their designs. They're usually spot on about 98% of the time, but even the best designers can let a dud slip through. I actually did see the bag on BV's website prior to writing this review, and it didn't change my opinion of it. I dislike the coloring, am not particularly enamored with the "crochet" detailing (I prefer the intrecciato weaving), and the shape of the bag is just absurd. When it sits on the floor or any other flat surface it just flattens like a pancake. Not visually appealing in those instances, and for $5200, a bag better look flawless all the time.

Thanks for the comments, folks, I really love to hear what others think. Keep them coming.

Hello, a friend of mine has this particular bag and I must say, it is really beautiful. It is not correct to say that it flattens like a pancake when put on the ground, that really is not so !
The beauty of the bag is that the shape is allways different when you wear it.
But of course, I can understand that taste is something you can not argue about, either you like the crochet detail or you don't.
But the weave ....really, unbelievably beautifull in my opinion.

    Thanks for the comment !

I suppose we'll have to disagree on this bag. If your friend is pleased with ther bag, then that's really all that matters. I hope she enjoys it in good health for many years to come.
