Stella McCartney Gem-embellished Clutch

There are some bags that make us wish we could have whispered into the ear of the designer right before they went into production. Just a few suggestions or some tweaking could help a design go from OK to gorgeous. That's the feeling I get when I look at Stella McCartney's Gem-embellished Clutch. The fold-over flap clutch is crafted from champagne-colored twill and features matte silver-tone hardware, decorative gem accents on the exterior, and a satin lined interior. Let me start by saying what I love about this design. The silhouette and framed fold-over flap are nothing short of fabulous. Even the gem accents on the exterior are tasteful and scaled down so as not to overpower the bag. My problem with the clutch is the color. That's it, really. This same design in a soft grey or metallic pewter would make it a great day-to-evening clutch. I'm afraid this color is a bit limiting. It's a cute clutch the way it is, but the color only works during the day and seems, I don't know, matronly. The clutch is priced at $995 which isn't too bad, but I'm not rushing out to get it anytime soon. Perhaps if it comes out in a different color or finish, I might be tempted.
