Coming Soon.....Chanel Coco Cocoon Handbag Line

Anyone that visits Señora Cartera's MySpace page knows how much I love Lily Allen since her songs have always dominated our playlist. I know I find her music inspiring in a very retro kinda way, but I'm not sure I understand why "the Kaiser" would find her inspiring. Anyhow, Lagerfeld does and so much so that he tapped the cheeky British songstress as the face of Chanel's upcoming handbag line, Coco Cocoon.

I previewed a few of the bags from this new line at the Chanel trunk show back in June, and I was surprised by how much I actually liked them. I mean, c'mon, lambskin and NYLON? Not exactly the words I cherish hearing in the same sentence, but the concept behind these designs is very practical and ultimately justifies the odd combination.

First things first, the bags are REVERSIBLE! I mean, literally, the SA pulled the bag inside out right before my very eyes and, voila!, a whole new bag. You're essentially getting two bags for the price of one. I know many Chanel die-hards will scoop these up quickly (there were already plenty of pre-orders on file for them).

I'm not certain if non-Chanel lovers will be as appreciative of these ingenious designs. We'll have to wait until October to find out if the hype converts to dollar signs (or euros) for the French fashion house. Beware, Karl, there are already replicas of the Coco Cocoon bags available on-line. Unreal!

P.S. - Love Lily Allen's homage to Audrey Hepburn's character from Breakfast at Tiffany's. The modern take on Holly Golightly is a perfect match for Lily's personality.
