Recession Shopping: Hobo International San Mateo Shoulder Bag

If the thought of plunking down thousands of dollars for a handbag in today's tough economic environment scares the you-know-what out of you, then it's time to show you how easy it has become to find a well-priced, stylish bag. The Hobo International San Mateo Shoulder Bag is a chic bag with beautiful detailing. From its black goatskin leather exterior to its distinctive shoulder strap, the 'San Mateo' is a superbly executed design that surpasses our expectations of a $298 bag. There is so much to love about this bag. The whipstitching along the lower portion of the seams is visually appealing while the strap's hardware inset is a clever design element. The 17.5" strap drop is long enough to carry over the shoulder or crossbody style, and the 15 x 13 x 5 well-appointed interior certainly provides all the storage space one could need. I tried this bag out about a week ago, and I was hooked the moment my hands touched the 'San Mateo's' supple leather exterior. While many of us fall in love with a bag "at first sight", my sensibilities have evolved to "love at first touch". Regardless of which method you use to choose your bags, a recession-friendly bag like the Hobo International San Mateo Shoulder Bag is a purchase all of us can be happy with. Available via
