I remember spotting a photo of L'Uomo Vogue's fashion editor, Giovanna Battaglia, a few months back and absolutely loving the bag she was carrying. It turns out the rather unique design was created by none other than Giovanna's sister, Sara. As I sat sifting through my resource sites this morning, I came across Sara Battaglia bags on LUISAVIAROMA.com.
My absolute favorite version of the bag (the all black leather one) is no longer available, but a fun, multi jewel-colored metallic leather bag is.
The Leather Strips Tote, as the bag is referred to, boasts an exterior entirely made up of wide, flat leather strips, some with metallic tips at the ends. The strips come down the bag in varying lengths, and the effect is beyond chic. The open top reveals a satin-lined interior with several pockets for added storage. The top handles are simple and understated as well as the hardware whose use is kept to a minimum. Sara's Fall/Winter '09 debut line delivers the Leather Strips Tote in various color options (creme and a black/white combo among others). Her Spring 2010 collection promises more of the same with the addition of vibrant colors to the more conservative staples. I'm interested in seeing whether or not Sara can re-create the magic her Leather Strips bags possess. The metallic leather version retails for $1304 via LUISAVIAROMA, but the site claims there is only one of these left. I'm sure Sara and her sister are tickled pink with the bag's success.
