Elschia Billy Sac; Tex Leather Belt Strap Sac
I'd begun to lose faith in Givenchy's ability to deliver fabulous designs like the 'Nightingale', 'Melancholia' and 'Postino' bags from the past, but these two totes have renewed it. I can't gush enough about the Elschia Billy Sac. This well-appointed design is a sturdy, leather bag with ostrich top handles that are seamlessly attached to the rest of the bag ensuring both comfort and stability. The sides zip up and down to expand the bag as needed. The overall dimensions are 14.5 x 20 x 7 (huge!), but the handles only clear about 6 inches which would be tough to fit over larger arms. The canvas-lined interior has several storage options for smaller items. In short, this bag has it all for just under $2000.
Upon close inspection, the second option has more visual appeal than the Elschia Billy Sac. You really must see the Tex Leather Belt Strap Sac in person to appreciate how chic and interesting it truly is. The top handles resemble belts, and actually function as such to a certain extent. The straps are adjustable just as belts are, and small logo-embossed silver buttons at the ends of each handle serve as anchors for additional strength. The leather exterior is textured providing interest to an otherwise simple silhouette. The interior of the 'Tex' is just as practical as the 'Elschia' with small pockets in addition to a large, zippered center divider. It measures 14 x 21 x 5 with a 7.5 handle drop making it easier to carry over the shoulder if you happen to have thick upper arms like I do. This option is slightly less expensive than the 'Elschia' at $1705 which might attract more of you to it considering the current economic environment. At least Givenchy has proven it can still deliver luxury bags that are practical and chic.
