Dita Von Teese's Handbag Style

I adore Dita Von Teese for many reasons, but mainly for being a modern women with unmistakable retro style. Dressing in this manner without coming off as being cartoon-ish is no easy task. Yet the "Queen of Burlesque" manages to did it with what appears to be little effort. Her outfits are always feminine and tailored, a throwback to the 40s and 50s, but her handbags are an entirely different story.

If one takes inventory of Von Teese's handbag collection, a definite pattern begins to emerge - that of a woman who loves to accent her looks with very interesting handbags. Yes, Dita loves classic bags from Chanel, Hermés and Dior, but she's just as capable of switching things up with statement bags like the Dior Samourai 1947 Woven Bag, Bodhi's Safety Pin Clutch or Alexander McQueen's Union Jack Skull Clutch (all pictured above). The great thing about Dita's style is that she wears fashion, it doesn't wear her. These potentially overpowering bags inexplicably blend in with her vintage-inspired outfits. Dita's polished style is an inspiration for someone as style-challenged as myself. I couldn't possibly pull off carrying any of the statement bags she owns, but I'd like to believe there is hope of doing so one day. If someone with such classic tastes as Dita Von Teese can do it, anything is possible.
