Resort 2010 "Must-Have" Picks

I live in Miami where it's "resort" season year-round. You could say I have an eye for bags that look fabulous when on vacation. I'm fairly certain I see more tourists than natives on a daily basis. Of course, I always zero in on their bags to see which style women favor while they're "resorting".

For the most part, I see lots of color, but, mostly, I see tons of metallic bags. Perhaps it's Miami's famed nightlife that entices vacationers to go metallic with their handbags. Who knows. Whatever the reason behind this may be, I think it's a fantastic one. When you're on vacation, there's a sense of liberation that overcomes you. It makes it easier for you to wear a sundress, drink a fruity cocktail and sport a fun, metallic bag. In the spirit of all the fashionable Miami tourists and their fabulous metallic bags, here are my picks for 2010's "must-have" resort bags.

Let's tackle the most important bag you'll carry on vacation - the daytime tote. It needs to be both stylish and practical. It should be roomy and well-appointed, but never boring. It must be chic but never tacky. These are qualities you'll find in the Michael Kors Skorpios New Ring Tote. The gold leather exterior is just gorgeous to behold. The brown plaited leather ring-shaped top handles are perfect for arm carrying, and the detachable shoulder strap offers additional comfort for those moments when you're shopping and need to keep your hands free. The best part of the design is the spacious interior with its pockets and center zipped divider. You'll have plenty of storage options to house your cash, credit cards, traveler's checks and travel documents. I'm sure you can sneak a few knick knacks inside if you don't want anyone to know you're into buying tacky souvenirs.

Now that we've taken care of your day-time bag, it's time to find you a snazzy design for those hot nights. The Marc Jacobs Eugenie python-effect leather clutch is a piece of silver goodness. Your evenings will be filled with fun as this roomy clutch keeps you looking fabulous. There are pockets to store smaller items as well as a roomy main compartment you can use to store a wallet, hotel key and make up.

If you're fortunate enough to travel this resort season, I wish you happy travels filled with fond memories and fabulous bags.
