New Arrivals Alert: Michael Kors Tonne Handbag Collection

Michael Kors Tonne handbag collection

Look at the latest handbag collection to pop up on Michael Kors' website. I haven't been this excited about a Michael Kors bag in like forever. My husband can attest to the fact that I frequently rag on the designer's unfulfilling accessories line, but the last couple of seasons have demonstrated a marked change for Kors handbags, and the 'Tonne' handbag collection is a masterful addition to his already stocked brand.

The Tonne hobo and tote, available in neutral colors like black, white and a gunmetal-looking color called fumo, are fine examples of how to interpret trends without sinking a bag into "trendy bag oblivion" (a phrase I like to throw around when I'm out shopping). The chic silhouettes and detailing are the stars here. The hardware, some with exotic skin accents like python, is gorgeous with a decidedly modern look. My favorite element is the roped shoulder strap on the hobo. Divine! My favorites are the hobo and tote in fumo, but I prefer the hobo 'cause I'm a single strap kinda gal. The hobo and tote retail for $795 and $995, respectively.

Dania, I was anxiously awaiting for your write-up on this collection. I really like the tote and the single strap is always a plus for me as well. The touch of python is nice, especially for those who won't "go there" when it comes to exotics. All of this for under $1000! I have to say I have spent $1,000 - $3,000+ for handbags, but have decided to become way more discriminate and I am going to seek well-designed, well-constructed and chic bags for $1,000 and under. Designers need to get on board with the "price trend" of $1,000 and under - it is possible!
