YSL Nylon Muse Bag

Here's the case of a good idea for a great design priced beyond explanation or reason. We all know and love the YSL Muse Bag. The idea of a practical nylon version for women that are looking for an indestructible bag capable of handling anything from heavy loads, unwanted stains and rainstorms is not new (Prada, anyone?), but still genius. I'd love a Nylon Muse Bag myself, but never, and I mean never, for $1200. With all the amazing leather bags out there priced under $1000, buying a nylon anything for this amount is absurd. As I said earlier, the idea is good, but not the price. Taking into account the label's right to hike up the price on a bag simply for carrying its name, I'd keep the Nylon Muse Bag somewhere between $600-$700. Let's not kid ourselves and expect them to offer this bag for $100. It would never happen. So we'll give them credit for branding rights as well as something for the popularity of the design and the fact that some leather is used for the handles and trim, but that still doesn't add up to $1200. It really is a pity they haven't gotten the message that nowadays pricing is crucial to success. Competition is fierce and lesser known labels are stepping up their game by churning out moderately-priced innovative designs. I have a feeling YSL will learn that lesson sooner rather than later.

    I don't do nylon, especially for $1200!

So true! I guess they think if Prada did it so can they...only thing is we're in a recession now! I like your point about all the good leather bags out there for much less!

Can you focus on the BAG rather than the PRICE?
Your review sucked. It's a designer bag. You didn't mention a single feature of the nylon bag. Did you know it had an interior pouch???
Best leave your bag reviews to a more experienced person. I'm sure you've never reviewed a Hermes bag.
    Stick to your Dooneys.

The point of this review is to address the issue of pricing, in this case, of a designer bag made from nylon. This feature was not so much a review, rather a commentary on a bag made from a more inexpensive material than, let's say, leather and the fact that something like that merits a more appropriate price tag. Anyone that was still interested in the bag after my commentary could easily access saks.com and read the description of the bag.

I review all sorts of bags from emerging talent to high end designers. Your point is out of place and quite classless. Still, I thank you for the time you took to comment here in the first place. Hopefully the rest of my reviews won't "suck" as much as this one.
