Light vs. Dark Or The Case Of The Big Flip Flop

No question, the beautiful detailing and easy neutral color of Donna Karan's Bandito bag makes it well worth the price. I like the soft shape, the drawstring style, and the extra care that went into the folded ruffle which adds just the right amount of umph without being fussy. But in this season of the nude shoe, I find myself strangely hungering for a tougher bag--okay, I'll admit it--I'm wanting a fierce black bag to temper the saccharine colors of spring.

I realized this when I surprised myself with a love-at-first-sight reaction to Alexander Wang's Rocco Mini Studded bag...it's everything I'm secretly longing for: a wildly flat out bad boy bag that's just as luxurious as it is rebellious.

Then again, I have been eyeing the Proenza Schouler PSI Medium Satchel for months now and can still see making this my summer bag...oh the joys of flipping and flopping over fashion!

What bag has your heart pounding this season?

I've got the "dark bad ass bag" bug too, but I'd go with the DK bag any day. Love her latest batch of bags. Just gorgeous.

I've become quite the cynic when it comes to Alexander Wang bags after hearing so many horror stories about the quality and design of the Coco. The more I analyze his bags, the more I realize they don't quite measure up to my usual standards. The piping and seams on AW bags are all wonky. I'm assuming this is done on purpose, but I prefer more definition when it comes to a bag's shape.

If you're seriously considering the PS1, I'd suggest you look into the Mulberry Alexa. It's less expensive and has a more feminine vibe than the Proenza Schouler bag.

Love all your choices Mary Jo, but I am sorry I won't be able to give you any advice. I am just too much of a bag schizophrenic - my want list changes daily (really hourly)!

Loving the DK bag. Hating the AW bag. Liking the PS bag, but I agree with Dania that the Alexa is cheaper and chicer. Plus it comes in YELLOW!

Haha, how I love bag addicts! Everyone has such strong ideas, it's so great! I do appreciate the warning on the AW bag--there is nothing worse than a poorly made bag. I'd probably go with a McQueen biker bag if I do give in to my black biker craving and I will be checking out the Alexa, although I still do think it would be nice to have a PS1 bag...see still flip flopping in this comment!!
